What is Social Media?

Social media is websites and applications, such as; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Snapchat, that allow people to create and share information (articles, pictures, videos) or allow them to participate in social networking.

Nowadays, people spend more time on their mobile phones or laptops browsing the internet for news, stories and information that their friends and family have shared to pass their time. The new age of marketing is moving away from flyers, brochures and pamphlets to that of online advertising. (Yay! We’re hopefully saving some trees). Social media platforms are changing to suit not only the individual, but companies and businesses to catch the eye of their target audience.
